The Beeline takes second place

Second Place Award Plaque for First Quarter, 2003, in Chrysallis Award CompetitionThe Beeline was selected as the Second Place finisher in the First Quarter of the Chrysallis Awards Competition. This is considered "an outstanding achievement for an outstanding site," according to Nicole S. Porter, program creator and director. We Bees thank the Chrysallis Awards Program for this recognition and congratulate the first-place winner, Lower Manhattan, as well as the other winners, Sunset Surfers and Sinus News. We are extremely proud to receive this award and bee in the fine company of the other winners.

The Chrysallis Awards have been designated World's Top Awards by Website Awards and is the Internet's first (and so far only) quarterly Web site awards competition. This competition's aim is to select four outstanding webmasters and sites each quarter to honor and promote as excellent examples of Web presence at its best. In their presentation of the winners, the following was said about The Beeline:

"An accurately self-described 'Web Army Knife,' The Beeline is an invaluable resource not only for residents of Indiana, but for the rest of the world as well! As explained on-site, The Beeline is an 'area information retrieval (AIR) system that promotes local Web titles on hundreds of topics.' Those topics range from local weather to local school news; movie listings to information about holidays. Information is given on the local (South Central Indiana), state, and global levels. But it doesn't stop there! The Beeline is also jam-packed with information on Web design and winning Web site awards. The site is host to one of the World's Top Awards, and its owner, Míc Miller, is the author of 'The Webmaster's Guide to Glory!,' the first-ever book written about Web site awards."

Beehive Awards Program
gets "cooled" by ODP

Open Directory Project Cool Site Badge

The Open Directory Project editor's choice star Open Directory Project Cool Site Star has been "pinned" to our Beehive Awards Program making it the Cool Site in the Computers: Internet: On the Web: Best_of the Web: Site_Awards: Rated_Awards category. This is the first known instance in ODP's history that a Web award program has been selected "best of category." Thanks, ODP!

Have something to say?

Then call or write us. We Bees welcome your comments and suggestions. After all, this is your Hive as well as ours. Feel free to let us know what you think or would like to see added.

Search links added
to Beehive Directory

It was quite a chore for the Beekeeper, but he finally did it. Míc Miller has added tens of thousands of "keyed" search links to the Beehive Directory. These "ready-to-click" search links will help you quickly find other available resources for each topic on the Internet. So, if we Bees have not yet made a recommendation, you can now "make a beeline" to see what may bee found through AlltheWeb, AltaVista, Ask Jeeves, Dogpile, Google, Google Groups, HotBot, and Yahoo!

For example, let's say you go to Events: Conferences: Brown County and do not find a recommendation (or not enough), simply:

Search for
Brown County Indiana Conferences
on:
AlltheWeb | AltaVista | Ask Jeeves | Dogpile

Google | Google Groups | HotBot | Yahoo!

Míc felt this search ability was needed since The Beeline will only list, and link to, Web pages that meet our high standards for quality and usefulness. (After all, we Bees are, by nature, very careful about what gets into our Hive.)

In addition to these direct search links, Míc has also made it a little easier to suggest a Web site or page. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity and send us a suggestion. If the Web page or site meets our standards, it will bee listed in the appropriate area(s) of the Hive.
