Acknowledgements
Efforts such as this cannot be accomplished
without the assistance of many individuals. As much as one might
believe that the final product is his alone, there are untold
others who have offered support, criticism, kind words, encouragement,
and an attentive ear. With such thoughts in mind, the author
would like to acknowledge the following groups and individuals
for their help and support.
Grateful thanks go to the many people
who represent the award programs, organizations, and companies
listed in this book and for providing timely information and
helping to ensure accuracy.
The author also wishes to thank the
Web Awards Community for their encouragement and recognition
over the years. Without it, his Web site and awards program would
not "bee" what it is today. This community of award
givers deserves far greater credit than he can express in words.
They are the one group on the Internet that have tirelessly given
their time and talents to challenge, motivate, and inspire others
to strive for and find "Web excellence" -- and recognize
them when they had found it!
Sincerest thanks go to David Bancroft,
Rob Ford, Keith Little, Ian McPherson, Stephanie Miller, Maggi
Norris, Jef Peace, Tom Powell, Julie Rice, and Dave Winer for
the support, feedback, input, advice, or assistance they gave
the author with his "little" project.
Special thanks go to Margaret Miller
for the many hours she spent proofreading this guidebook.
And finally, very special thanks
go to Don Chisholm for his tremendous contributions to this book
as well as everything else he has freely given to award givers
and award seekers over the years. Don is the champion
of the Web Awards Community in every sense of the word.
